Luckau is a city in the district of Dahme-Spreewald in the federal state of Brandenburg, Germany. The oldest preserved document mentioning the city of Luckau dates from the year 1276. With a prosperous city, it also became one of the capitals of Lower Lusatia in 1492. During the thirty years of war, the Swedish fortified the city as a principal base. It suffered severe damage as a result of the ensuing conflicts.
 
Luckau had a population of 10,608 as of 2005. It has an area of 206.39 square kilometers, with a population density of 51 people per square kilometers. From 1816 to 1993, Luckau held the status of Kreisstadt or county seat. It has now been included in the rural district of Dahme-Spreewald, of which the capital is Lubben. Luckau has been a well-known peat-bath spa since the beginning of the 20th century.

Transportation of Luckau is located at the nexus of federal motorway A87, A96 and A102. There is a railway station of the German railway corporation on the Berlin-Dresden line. The name of the station is Luckau-Uckro. Located approximately 10 kilometers to the east of Luckau exits Duben of Autobahn. The church of the nearby village of Duben has also been designated as an Autobahn church. Luckau, justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited place. Due to its many historic events and places it has been one of the favorite destinations of visitors.
