Kemnath is a town in the district of Tirschenreuth, in Bavaria, Germany. It is located near the Fichtelgebirge, 24 kilometers southeast of Bayreuth. Kemnath’s administrative region is Upper Palatinate, district is Tirschenreuth, population was 5,322 in 2005, area is 54.13 square kilometers, population density is 98 per square kilometers and is elevated at 477 meters.
 
The Free State of Bavaria has an area of 70,553 square kilometers and 12.4 million inhabitants thus forming the southernmost state of today's Germany. Its capital is Munich. The region north of the Alps was occupied by Celts and was part of the Roman Empire until tribes from the East, the so-called Bayuvaren started to inhabit in the region in the 6th century AD.
