Lohr am Mainis a municipality in the Main Spessart district, in Bavaria, Germany. It is located on the river Main, 30 kilometers from east of Aschaffenburg, and 34 kilometers from northwest of Wurzburg. The population of the city Lohr was 16,182 in the year 2004 in an area of 90.44 square kilometers and its population density was 179 people per square kilometers.
The name Lohr is thought to have evolved from the German word, Lare meaning pasture. Although concrete archeological evidence is lacking, it is believed that due to these outstanding conditions, water, pasture and shelter, this area was populated long before the first written documentation of 1295 Common Era. By 1295 Common Era, the municipality had grown in size and importance. The town had become center of the County Rieneck. The city was developed and fortified into a frontier to the duchy of Franconia. Lohr am Mainis an attractive city with natural beauty and historical places, while traveling in Germany.
