Langen is a town and a municipality in the district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 7 kilometers north of Bremerhaven, and 30 kilometers south of Cuxhaven. Lower Saxony lies in north-western Germany and is second in area and fourth in population among the country's sixteen Lander states of Germany. In rural areas, Low German is still spoken, but the number of speakers is declining. The state has an area of 47,618 square kilometers and nearly eight million inhabitants.
