Erbach im Odenwald is a town in Hesse, Germany. It is the capital of Odenwald District and has a population of 14,000. Erbach is the former seat of the Counts of Erbach-Erbach. The Counts of Erbach ruled parts of the Odenwald from their castles until the dissolution of the Holy Roman Empire in 1806. Erbach has an elevation of 200 to 560 meters in the Odenwald in the valley of the Mumling stream. Its population as on from 31 December 2004 was 13,696 with an area of 73.43 square kilometers. Its population density is 223 per square kilometers. Erbach borders Michelstadt to the north, the market community Kirchzell to the east, the community Hesseneck and the town Beerfelden in the south, and the community Mossautal in the west.

The capital city of Hesse is Wiesbaden while its economic centre and largest city is nearby Frankfurt am Main and the surrounding Rhine Main Area.
