Blankenhain is a town in the Weimarer Land district, Kreis or district in the east of Thuringia, Germany. It is situated 14 kilometers south of Weimar. The Free State of Thuringia or in German, Freistaat Thuringen, lies in central Germany and is among the smaller of the country's sixteen Bundeslander or federal states, being eleventh in size with an area of 16,200 square kilometers and twelfth most populous with 2.45 million inhabitants. Tourism in Germany has expanded since the end of World War II, and many tourists visit Germany to experience a sense of European history. The countryside exhibits a pastoral aura, while its cities exhibit both a modern and classical feel.
