Bad Tolz is a town in Bavaria, Germany, and administrative center of the district of Bad Tolz-Wolfratshausen. The town has about 17,700 inhabitants. Bad Tolz sits on the Isar River, 670 meters above sea level. It occupies 30.8 square kilometers.
 
Bad Tolz is known for its spas, historic medieval town, and spectacular views of the alps. On the western bank of the Isar River lies the Kurverwaltung, or modern spa, whose iodine-rich waters are known for their soothing and healing powers. Another major attraction is Stadtpfarrkirche, a church built in 1466, which is an excellent example of German late-Gothic architecture. Bad Tolz is the setting of the popular television series, Der Bulle von Tolz. The Free State of Bavaria, with an area of 70,553 square kilometers and 12.4 million inhabitants, forms the southernmost state of today's Germany. Its capital is Munich.
