Bad Tennstedt is a town in the Unstrut-Hainich district, in Thuringia, Germany. It is situated 27 kilometers east of Muhlhausen, and 24 kilometers northwest of Erfurt. The Free State of Thuringia lies in central Germany and is among the smaller of the country's sixteen Bundeslander, being eleventh in size with an area of 16,200 square kilometers and twelfth most populous with 2.45 million inhabitants.
