Auerbach in der Oberpfalz is a place in the Amberg-Sulzbach district, Bavaria, Germany. It is located 45 kilometers northeast of Nuremberg. In Michelfeld there was a Benedictine monastery which is now a nursing home. The population of Auerbach in der Oberpfalz as of  2005 was 9,117 and its area is 70.33 square kilometers. Its population density was 130 per square kilometers. Due to its many historic events and places it has been one of the favorite destinations of visitors. It is also said the place of best geographical environment and can trace its origins back to prehistoric times.
