Amoneburg (Hesse)

Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. The North Sea and the Baltic Sea represent additional National Borders in the North. The official language of Germany is German and Berlin is the capital. The climate is quite pleasant with almost all variety of seasonal flavors as temperate, marine, cool, cloudy, wet winters and summers, occasional warm, tropical foehn wind and high relative humidity.

Germany is divided into 16 states which are further subdivided into 439 districts and cities. Germany is one of the largest European economy and the third largest economy in the world in real terms, placed behind the United States and Japan, and fifth behind the United States, China, India and Japan counted by purchasing power parity.

Amoneburg is a city in the Marburg-Biedenkopf district which is in Hesse, located in Germany. It lies on a mountain and is built around the castle of the same name, Burg Amoneburg. In 2005, the population of the city was 5,330 and an area of 43.95 square kilometers.  Amoneburg lies on a basalt cone that can be seen from a great distance, below which flows the river Ohm, a tributary to the Lahn. From the Vogelsberg massif in the southeast, Amoneburg is split by the Amoneburg Basin, a hollow suspected of being a meteorite crater.

In the north, Amoneburg borders on the town of Kirchhain, in the east on the town of Stadtallendorf both in Marburg-Biedenkopf, in the southeast on the town of Homberg that is Vogelsbergkreis and in the west on the community of Ebsdorfergrund Marburg-Biedenkopf.

Amoneburg's rectangular market square was laid out in this shape in the 18th century. Also worth seeing is the Mainzer Hof with its barn and manor house at the Lindauer Tor gate. The adjoining church is a neo-Gothic basilica. On its north side stands the 14th century church tower with its Baroque cupola. Around Amoneburg, the deserted communities of Bruck, Brunsfort, Gerende, Heuchelheim, Lindau, Radenhausen and Wanehusen can be found.

Amoneburg is the kind of town you daydream about. It is a city with endless recreational opportunities, rich history, and modern day luxuries.
