Maintal




Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. Maintal is the second largest town of the Main-Kinzig district, in Hesse, Germany. It is situated on the river Main, between Frankfurt am Main and Hanau. The city was artificially created in 1974 in the course of the Hessian administration reform by merging the city of Dornigheim with the nearby towns of Bischofsheim, Hochstadt and Wachenbuchen. Neighbouring towns and cities of Maintal are Niederdorfelden and Schoneck in the north, the city of Hanau in the East, Muhlheim Main and Offenbach on the other bank of the river Main as well as Frankfurt am Main in the west.
 
Maintal is connected with Hanau and Frankfurt by the so-called nordmainische Eisenbahn and has two train stations two ferries at Rumpenheim and Muhlheim lead over the river Main. Maintal is also known as the town of best geographical environment and has traced its origins back to prehistoric times. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
