Laatzen is a city in Lower Saxony, Germany with a population of 42,000 people. It is situated on south of Hanover. Its population density is 1,175 per square kilometer. The area of the city is 34.05 square kilometers. In 1964, the municipalities of Laatzen and Grasdorf were merged into the city of Laatzen. In 1974, the towns of Rethen or Leine, Gleidingen and Ingeln-Oesselse were added to the city.
