Krefeld

Germany is divided into 16 states which are further subdivided into 439 districts and cities. Germany is one of the largest European economy and the third largest economy in the world in real terms, placed behind the United States and Japan, and fifth behind the United States, China, India and Japan counted by purchasing power parity.
 
Krefeld is a municipality in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated in southwest of the Ruhr area, just a few kilometres to the west of the River Rhine. Its population is 238,100 in an area of 137.68 square kilometers. The origins of the town were in Roman times, when the legions founded the military camp of Gelduba. Uerdingen was initially an independent town east of Krefeld, founded in 1255. In medieval times it was bigger and more important than Krefeld.
 
Krefeld is connected to the Deutsche Bahn network with numerous stations, however they all carry local trains. The Dusseldorf-based Rheinbahn operates a Stadtbahn service to the centrally located Rheinstrabe stop. The city of Krefeld itself operates four tramway and several bus lines under the umbrella of SWK, Stadtwerke Krefeld Mobil, a city-owned company. Krefeld is a city with endless recreational opportunities, rich history, and modern day luxuries.
