Koln




Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. The North Sea and the Baltic Sea represent additional National Borders in the North. The official language of Germany is German and Berlin is the capital. The climate is quite pleasant with almost all variety of seasonal flavors as temperate, marine, cool, cloudy, wet winters and summers, occasional warm, tropical foehn wind and high relative humidity.
 
Germany is divided into 16 states which are further subdivided into 439 districts and cities. Germany is one of the largest European economy and the third largest economy in the world in real terms, placed behind the United States and Japan, and fifth behind the United States, China, India and Japan counted by purchasing power parity.
 
Koln is Germany's fourth biggest city after Berlin, Hamburg and Munich and is the largest city both in the German Federal State of North Rhine-Westphalia and within the Rhine-Ruhr Metropolitan Area. It is one of the major European metropolitan areas with more than 12 million inhabitants. Its population is 975,907 with population density of 2,409 people per square kilometer.
 
Koln lies at the River Rhine and the city's world famous Koln Cathedral, which is the seat to a Roman Catholic Archdiocese. Koln University is one of Europe's oldest universities and globally renowned for its economics department. Koln is the economic and cultural capital of the Rhineland and has a vibrant and thriving art scene. Koln counts over 30 museums and hundreds of galleries.
 
Koln lies between 37.5 and 118.04 meters above sea level. Koln is incorporated under the rule of the Gemeindeordnung Nordrhein-Westfalen. The eleven flames are a reminder of Koln’s patron, St. Ursula, a Britannic princess, and her legendary 11,000 virgin companions who were supposedly martyred by Attila the Hun at Koln for their Christian faith in 383 Anno Domini. Koln's international airport is called Konrad-Adenauer-Flughafen. Koln is an attractive city with natural beauty and historical places, while traveling in Germany.
