Paderborn




Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. The North Sea and the Baltic Sea represent additional National Borders in the North. The official language of Germany is German and Berlin is the capital. The climate is quite pleasant with almost all variety of seasonal flavors as temperate, marine, cool, cloudy, wet winters and summers, occasional warm, tropical foehn wind and high relative humidity.
 
Paderborn is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia in Germany and capital of the Paderborn district. It has a population of approximately 142,000 inhabitants of which 8 percent are students at the local university and about 10,000 are members or former members of the British armed forces.  The name of the city comes from the river Pader, which originates in more than 200 springs near Paderborn Cathedral, where St. Liborius is buried. The population of the city is 143,769 till 2005 in an area of 180 square kilometers. The population density is 797 per square kilometers.
 
Paderborn was the seat of the Bishopric of Paderborn but today it is seat of a Roman Catholic archbishop. It is the headquarters of the former Nixdorf Computer, which was acquired by Siemens in the early 1990s and known as Siemens-Nixdorf for about 10 years. The company is now known as Wincor Nixdorf that is located in Paderborn. Paderborn is home of the Paderborn 07 football club, which achieved fame in 2005 by advancing to the second Bundesliga. Paderborn is located at the Autobahn A33, which connects Paderborn to the Autobahn A2 in the north and the Autobahn A 44 in the south.
 
Paderborn, justifiably so, enjoys a very positive reputation with worldwide travelers, and is one of the most visited place. Presently, Paderborn experiences a sharp social, economic and population growth derivative of the strategic position of the locality and the high level of well-being and quality of life that is enjoyed with respect to other places of Germany.
