Gifhorn

Gifhorn is a city in Germany, which is located in Lower Saxony, near Hannover, Celle, and Wolfsburg, close to the Aller and Ise rivers. It has around 43,350 inhabitants and is the capital of the district Gifhorn. It was initially mentioned in 1196, when it was located at the crossing of two major merchant routes, one which transported salt between Luneburg and Braunschweig, the other transporting grain between Celle and Magdeburg.
 
Schools in Gifhorn consist of the Humboldt Gymnasium, the Otto-Hahn-Gymnasium, Fritz-Reuter-Realschule, Dietrich-Bonhoeffer-Realschule, Albert-Schweitzer-Hauptschule, Alfred-Teves-Hauptschule and the Berufsbildenden Schulen I and II. Today, one can also learn about its history, from its earliest times and can also enjoy its natural beauty concealed by the beautiful landscapes.
