Gera




Germany is located in Central Europe and it shares borders with Denmark in the North, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg and France in the West, Austria and Switzerland in the South and Poland and the Czech Republic in the East. The North Sea and the Baltic Sea represent additional National Borders in the North. The official language of Germany is German and Berlin is the capital. Germany is divided into 16 states which are further subdivided into 439 districts and cities. Germany is one of the largest European economy and the third largest economy in the world in real terms, placed behind the United States and Japan, and fifth behind the United States, China, India and Japan counted by purchasing power parity.
 
Gera is a large town in east Thuringia, Germany. As per 2003 census, it recorded a population of 105,000 inhabitants with its density of 151 persons for every square kilometer. It was founded in the year, 995 and from 1564, it was home to the younger line of Reuss monarchy. In 1920, it became part of Thuringia and a large area of the city was destroyed by aerial bombing in 1945. Till the German reunification in 1990, Gera belonged to the German Democratic Republic. It has prominent sights like the Town hall, Otto Dix House, City Pharmacy, Art Galley and Museum of Natural History.
 
Gera is considered as a historical and potential tourism destination that enjoys a positive reputation with worldwide travelers to become one of the most visited places. Also highly impressing are the highly acclaimed light art installations in it. It is often regarded as among the most beautiful parts of Germany and one of the most visited places amongst the most die-hard travelers the world over.
