Frankenthal is a city in southwestern Germany, in the state of Rheinland-Pfalz. Its population was 47,357 as per the 2005 census. Its area is 43.78 square kilometers and population density is 1,082 per square kilometers. The city is elevated 96 meters above the mean sea level. It was first mentioned in 772 and in 1119, Augustian seminary was built. The ruins still stand in the present day in the center of the town. In 1600, it was converted to a fortress. Some of the major tourist attractions include ruins of the monastery, churches, Wormser Tor and other outskirts.
 
A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, luxurious hotels and cottages, Frankenthal is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
