Ettlingen

Ettlingen is a city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, cooperative people and luxurious hotels and cottages. It is also one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers and is a part of Baden-Wurttemberg state. It is located about 10 kilometers to the south of the city of Karlsruhe. After Bruchsal, Ettlingen is the second largest city in the Karlsruhe Landkreis.
According to many artifacts found as well as the Neptunstein in Ettlingen, it can be affirmed that it was a vital crossroad during Roman times. The city was first populated during the 788 century and was called as Ediningom in an announcement of the Monastery in Wissembourg in Alsace. Later in 1192, Ettlingen was raised to city status in the German Empire by Heinrich VI one of Friederich Barabarossa's sons. In the following years it became an independent city in the Margravite of Baden-Baden.
