Bad Kreuznach is the capital of Bad Kreuznach, Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. It is located on the Nahe River, a tributary of the Rhine. As of 2005, the current mayor of Bad Kreuznach is Andreas Ludwig from the CDU, the Christian Democratic Union, who won the municipal election of March 30, 2003. It has a population of 43,757 inhabitants and total surface area of 46.1 square kilometers with a population density of 949 residents per square kilometers.
 
For 50 years, Bad Kreuznach was home to a United States Army base, including headquarters of the U.S. 8th Infantry Division, which closed down in May 2001. The villas of rich citizens built during the German Empire are very typical of the town. A city known for its historic myths and traditions, scenic beauty, luxurious hotels and cottages, Bad Kreuznach is one of the favorite holiday destinations for most of the vacation lovers.
